The Ministry of Education (MOE) launched the Program on Bilingual Education for students in college in 2021. The College of Computer Science and The College of Biomedical Science and Engineering of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University have been selected as the benchmark bilingual colleges for the implementation of English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) from 2021-to 2023 as the first phase. Our college has established an incentive mechanism to promote the EMI program, such as EMI teaching bonus, excellence in teaching EMI Award, and English proficiency test incentive for students.

The following are the goals of the EMI program by 2026 at our college:

• 38% of EMI courses of overall provision
• 22% of sophomore year and 1st-year master’s students will earn at least 20% of their credits from EMI courses.
• 30% of sophomore year students will reach B2 or above on CEFR for English proficiency
