The College of Electrical Engineering and the College of Computer Science, integrating the intricately subdivided and specialized electronics and computer institutes and departments, possess high quality teaching staff, equipment, courses. and education, research environment, and experience, and has demonstrated outstanding performance in educational results as well as academic research quality. Alumni of the Colleges performed brilliantly in the electronics and computer science fields, and play very important roles in the development of our country’s computer industry development. Many world-class high-tech companies in the country right now were founded by alumni of our university. Over 30 years, the high-tech industries of our country grew together with NCTU’s electrical engineering and computer science colleges.

One the one hand, the program was established in order to enhance the continuing studies function of higher education and build an environment where lifelong learning is available, in accordance with government policy. On the other hand, the electrical engineering and computer science industries have become our country’s most important technology industry, and these high-tech industries occupy a very high percentage at the Hsinchu Science Park, with a large body of employees, who all have urgent demand for continuous learning. Thus, the two Colleges set up this program in order to make contributions to further education for workers in the high-tech industry and the improvement and enhancement of their skills.
