COLLEGE OF COMPUTER SCIENCE NYCU

Institute of Computer Science and Engineering

Our Institute has an outstanding teaching staff lineup, advanced research and development equipment, and we cover a broad range of fields in computer science research, including Algorithms and theory of computation, bioinformatics, password and information security, database and data processing, operating system and Real-time operating system (RTOS), distributed system, SOC and embedded system, computer architecture, programming language, software engineering, and artificial intelligence.

Many professors received the MOST (Ministry of Science and Technology) Outstanding Research Award from the former National Science Council and the current Ministry of Science and Technology, and serve as editors on international periodicals and well as conference agenda members of international conferences, as well as Fellows at important international academic associations including the IEEE, ACM, and IEE. The Institute maintains close communications with industry and academia nationally and internationally, and has continuously received plentiful grants for research.

Our professors participate in multiple large-scale research projects, including the Science Vanguard Research Program, Latter-outstanding Project and National-Type Project, Deep-Plowing Project, University-Industry Collaboration Projects (Large Alliance), with outstanding results in research, contributing greatly to academia and industry.

Important recent and historical research includes:

  • ARM9 Compatibility Processor that is equipped with video and audio function, able to expand the application interface of the ARM9 embedding system as well as the products catalogue.
  • Anti-driver sleeping system brain wave detection, which, when worn by the driver, will immediately send out an alarm signal to warn the driver.
  • NCTUns 6.0 network simulator has been downloaded for use by more than 20,000 users in 140 separate countries, and is one of the most popular network simulators in use by academia.

Our institute is currently redoubling efforts to form a research group in order to fully expound on the power of integration and increase interdisciplinary cooperation, enhancing efforts to recruits international academics as well as quality international students, and improve international cooperation, so that we are able to make contributions to the next generation of information development.
