COLLEGE OF COMPUTER SCIENCE NYCU
As the year draws to a close, we are thankful for the input of funding from good friends from various parts of society, supporting our College by practical action. Our college is dedicated to promoting internationalization. Under the "Heart-filled Funding Program and Overseas Intern/Exchange Student Fundraising Project," the number of people from our college going abroad as exchange students has been growing each year.
In June and October of this year, we hosted two seminars on sharing the experiences of the exchange program. We invited students who went abroad to share what their reflections on going abroad. Some compared the advantages and flaws of the system of taking courses on both sides, some reflected on their attitude of learning, some learned to pay attention to the pulse of international affairs, and some learned to experience the world from a different angle. What they took back with them are not only personal excitement and experiences. What we fervently hope for is that with their sharing and promotion of their experience, more and more students will participate on the international stage and contribute to Taiwan.
Once more, I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all the senior classmates, for participating in this worthy endeavor. It is like President Chang Mao-Chung said, "NYCU belongs to all of us. We need everyone to join efforts to irrigate and nurture it for it to grow, and for us to be able to walk far together." We hope that the future brings more donations as a driving force for our College to become better. I hereby humbly wish everyone safety and health, and a tail wind in all affairs.
Our College shoulders the responsibility of training national and international top-rate talent in the computer field. With intensifying global competition, if students are able to receive early nurturing of international perspectives and horizons, it will be a strong boost to their future competitiveness. Therefore, our College is proactively promoting the "Heart-filled Funding Program and Overseas Intern/Exchange Student Fundraising Project," and we hope to improve the international competitiveness of students enrolled at the university via the generous and warm donations from alumni, and further ignite the motivations from more students to participate on the international stage and contribute to Taiwan. From 2014 to 2016, and further up to this point, 23 students have benefitted from this fundraising project. They went to Carnegie Mellon University in the United States, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich in Switzerland, Technische Universität München and Universität Mannheim in Germany, Fudan University of Shanghai and Peking University in China as exchange students.
