Abstract:

Explosive evolution of AI requires ultra-high performance on IT infrastructures of computing and communication. It also requires vast amount of electricity reaching 10GW per datacenter. IOWN is an initiatives with diverse global players in IT industries for both high-performance and low-power consumption by power of optics. It stands for Innovative Optical and Wireless Network. This speech elaborates on latest IOWN activities of optical powered communication called All Photonics Network and optical powered computing called Data Centric Infrastructure, and their deployment use cases in diverse industries. IOWN Global Forum is the global IOWN ecosystem to develop IOWN technologies and use cases together with over 170 member companies and academia. The latest activities of IOWN Global Forum is also explained in the speech.

 

Bio:

Dr. Yosuke ARAGANE, CISSP, is the Head of IOWN development office, NTT R&D Planning Department. His responsibilities are managing IOWN R&D in NTT Labs and leading IOWN Global Forum with diverse partners.

Since his joining NTT Laboratories in 1997, his major research area was Cyber Security especially in CSIRT operations. Since 2008, he has also been responsible for managing corporate technology strategies and managing global wide service offerings. Since 2016, he became the head of Cyber Security R&D Promotion in NTT R&D Planning Dept. In 2019, he became a Vice President of IOWN development office where he has managed IOWN R&D in NTT Labs and led operations of the IOWN Global Forum. Since 2023, he has current responsibilities in NTT headquarters. He is an Alternate Director and Co-Leader of Officer team in the IOWN Global Forum.
He is a member of IEEE, IEICE, and IPSJ. He received the M.S. and Dr. of Engineer degrees from the Tokyo Institute of Technology at Tokyo, Japan, in 1997 and 2005 respectively.
